Volunteers of the Quarter: The Turman Family
Turman

As volunteers, the family has mainly worked to fight hunger in two ways: The first is through quarterly food distributions to families, seniors and individuals in need. They also regularly help out at the distribution center with friends. Here, they sort, inspect and pack food for distribution to local pantries.

To inspire their children to continue serving, Tonya and Stephen constantly remind them of how blessed they are and how, through the Food Bank, they’re giving back to those with less.

Reflecting on how giving their time has impacted their family, Tonya and Stephen encourage others to get involved with the Food Bank. They’ve learned a lot in the time they’ve been helping feed their community.

“This volunteer experience has really opened our eyes to the amount of work that is being done and what still needs to happen in order to serve our hungry neighbors,” Tonya says.

We are so very grateful for the hard work and dedication of our volunteers. If you’d like to get involved, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Mark Schock, at mschock@chattfoodbank.org
