Hungry? We Can Help

Living Hopefully.

You’re Bringing Hope to Neighbors like Belinda

“It’s very painful to be hungry,” Belinda says, with tears pooling in her eyes. “By the grace of God, I found this place.”

We met Belinda while she waited in line outside the Family 2 Family food pantry, which operates out of East Chattanooga Church of God. She was thrilled to see the pantry sign when visiting the church with a friend. Belinda has really been struggling — she told us she’d just received notice that her power was about to be shut off.

She’s been in a tough spot financially ever since she was injured on the job at a local hospital. It was a terribly difficult time in her life — her husband, Gary, passed away soon after, and her son had to be hospitalized.

Belinda says she’s applied for disability assistance and is looking for less-demanding work, but she’s also a full-time caregiver for her mother, Carol, who requires constant attention.

With the stress of all her responsibilities right now, your support is a welcome relief for Belinda. She held back tears while she told us her story, and cried softly when we asked her if she had a message for donors like you, who help keep the pantry stocked with nutritious food.

“I am very thankful for this,” she says, sincerely.

Because you choose to give, neighbors like Belinda have renewed hope. Your support is so greatly appreciated — especially at this time of year. Thank you!
