You’re Helping Single Parents Feed Their Families

Single mother Danielle worked at a coffee shop and a babysitting job to support her family. Those jobs, combined with her Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, formerly known as food stamps, kept just enough food on her family’s table.

But when Danielle recently lost her job, she began to go without food for herself just to make sure her three daughters could eat. Thankfully, she heard about the food pantry at First Baptist Church of Soddy Daisy, a partner agency of the Food Bank.

“This helps between SNAP being replenished,” Danielle explains of the food you help provide to the food pantry through your donations to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.

Her daughters, ages 1, 3 and 6, especially love fresh fruits, which Danielle is able to pick up at the pantry. She said the food provided at the pantry typically lasts her family a week or two after their SNAP benefits run out.

Danielle hopes to go back to school to become a registered nurse, so she can create a better future for her and her family.

Today, she is very thankful you choose to give. “You help a whole lot of families,” Danielle says, thankful for your gifts.

Because of you, Danielle will be able to share a special holiday meal with her family this season, and provide nutritious meals throughout the year.

As you celebrate the holidays this year, I hope you’ll remember the impact you’re making in the lives of neighbors like Danielle. Your gifts mean so much.
