Garden Programs
We promote the value of growing healthy food and provide support for local community gardening initiatives. The Bill Johnson Community Garden is located off MLK Boulevard at Chattanooga Housing Authority property. Residents living in the low-income apartments, use raised garden besd to grow fresh produce for themselves and their neighbors.
The Evelyn Navarre Davenport Teaching Garden, is a joint venture with the Hamilton County Master Gardeners. This demonstration garden, located at the Food Bank, is used to teach the community about the benefits of planting vegetable gardens. It has also produced more than 700 pounds of fresh produce for our Emergency Food Box clients.
