In what has now become an icon in the effort to fight hunger in America, the National Association of Letter Carrier’s Stamp Out Hunger food drive is a very special day for millions of Americans. It is the one day that everyone has the opportunity – with the help of their letter carriers – to donate food for the needy in their community.
It is the largest one-day food drive in the United States. Last year, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank collected 60,000 pounds of food to feed those in need.
What You Can Do To Help
- Place non-perishable food products in a bag.
- Leave that bag at your mailbox on Saturday, May 14th.
- Your letter carrier will pick up and deliver your donation to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.
- You can print a flyer for your convenience. 2011 Stamp Out Hunger Flyer
You can also donate food items to any of the area’s post offices. A barrel will be in the lobby to collect these donations from Friday, May 6th – Monday, May 15th.
