Director of Community Engagement

Chattanooga, TN | Full-Time | In-Person

Salary Range: $68,000–$70,000

At the Chattanooga Area Food Bank, we believe food is a basic human right. Every day, we work across a 20-county region to feed, nourish, and empower our neighbors through a network of partners, volunteers, donors, and advocates.

As food insecurity continues to rise across our region, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank is growing in response to the need. We are expanding our Development and Community Engagement teams to strengthen how we engage volunteers, supporters, partners, and the broader community around the mission of ending hunger.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a mission-driven organization during a pivotal season of growth and community impact.

The Director of Community Engagement provides leadership for volunteer engagement, events, Northwest Georgia outreach, and guest experience at the Food Bank’s main warehouse. This role will help shape and scale how the Food Bank connects with the community while ensuring experiences are welcoming and aligned with CAFB’s values.

What You’ll Do

Lead Community Engagement Strategy

  • Provide leadership for volunteer engagement, events, guest experience, and Northwest Georgia outreach
  • Supervise and develop a growing community engagement team
  • Foster a culture of hospitality, professionalism, accountability, and mission alignment
  • Help strengthen systems, processes, and communication across community engagement functions

Oversee Volunteer & Guest Experiences

  • Strengthen and grow the Food Bank’s volunteer engagement program
  • Ensure volunteers and visitors feel welcomed, valued, and connected to impact
  • Oversee front-of-house and guest experience operations at the main warehouse
  • Collaborate across departments to support tours, meetings, volunteer opportunities, and community visits

Lead Events & Community Experiences

  • Oversee Food Bank events, tours, donor experiences, appreciation events, and community engagement activities
  • Ensure events reflect CAFB’s mission, brand, and values
  • Partner closely with Development, Communications, and Executive Leadership teams to align engagement strategies

Support Northwest Georgia Engagement

  • Provide strategic oversight and support for engagement efforts across Northwest Georgia
  • Strengthen relationships with regional partners, supporters, and community leaders
  • Help ensure CAFB maintains a strong and visible presence across the service area

What We’re Looking For

  • Must have a degree or equivalent education/experience  
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in community engagement, volunteer management, nonprofit leadership, events, or related fields
  • Experience leading teams and managing multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders
  • Passion for community-centered work and the mission of the Chattanooga Area Food Bank

This is an in-person role based at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank’s main warehouse in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Some evening and weekend work is required.
