Why your time matters
Volunteering with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank is about more than lending a hand — it’s about making an immediate impact for neighbors facing hunger. Every task you take on supports our mission to provide nutritious food to every table, every time.
Benefits of volunteering:
- Create direct impact in your community
- Learn more about local hunger and solutions
- Connect with other passionate people
- Be part of a mission-driven team

A place for everyone
Share your time and talents at any of our locations across the region:
- Chattanooga Warehouse & Garden – Help sort, pack, or grow fresh food for our community.
- Foxwood Food Center – Support daily operations and connect directly with those we serve.
- Dalton, GA Warehouse – Lend a hand in organizing and distributing essential supplies.
- Mobile Pantries – Volunteer on the go as we bring food directly to neighborhoods with high rates of food insecurity.

Before you volunteer
We want your volunteer experience to be smooth and meaningful. Here’s everything you need to know before your first shift, from arrival details to dress code:
All food bank volunteers must register in advance for a session. We are unable to accommodate walk-in volunteers.
Age requirements vary by location and activity and are listed on individual volunteer opportunities.
Absolutely! We have a donation bin for smaller quantities in our front reception area. If you have a large donation, please drive around back to our Donations area.
Wear comfortable clothes! Shoes must be fully enclosed- no flip-flops, sandals, crocs, or clogs.
Just your smiling face! We provide bottled water for volunteers, but we encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle and use our filtered water dispenser. No glass or open containers are allowed in the warehouse area. No firearms or weapons are permitted on the Chattanooga Area Food Bank property.
We have plenty of parking available surrounding our warehouse and next to the railroad tracks. Overflow parking can be found just up the road at 2011 Curtain Pole Road. You can follow the riverwalk to get back to our building; it’s a 3-minute walk.
You must be accepted into Chattanooga Area Food Bank’s Court-Ordered Community Service program before you will be able to schedule your first shift. The Chattanooga Area Food Bank does not provide community service opportunities for the following: felonies, violent crimes, theft, abuse or neglect, weapons offenses, and sex-related crimes.
