Bilingual Foxwood Food Center Associate

This is a bilingual associate position at Foxwood Food Center, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank's flagship food pantry.

The Chattanooga Area Food Bank, a Feeding America network member, serves an estimated 180,000 food insecure children, adults, and seniors across Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia. This position is responsible for supporting all operations and programs of Foxwood Food Center, the largest internal program of the Food Bank and, consequently, the largest food pantry in Hamilton County. Responsibilities for this position include direct interaction with Food Bank staff, volunteers, and guests, plus stocking, sorting, reporting inventories, and maintaining safety and cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

Operations

  • Prepare Foxwood Food Center for daily operations, including stocking and sorting product, cleaning, and inventory.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all guests, volunteers, and partners.
  • Intake and properly process guests receiving food assistance, with a focus on our Spanish-speaking neighbors in need.
  • Help with internal and external reports of Foxwood's performance.
  • Organize and maintain all records required by state and local officials.

Volunteers

  • Meet and orient volunteers to the pantry.
  • Train volunteers in different work areas.
  • Lead volunteers in the bakery, dairy, and produce sorting
  • Train volunteers in accordance with our food safety guidelines.

Shopping Area & Warehouse Storage

  • Maintain required cleaning areas per the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Sweep, mop, and empty the trash cans in the main operation area daily.
  • Ensure proper storage, safety, and cleanliness of all products stored in the Foxwood Food Center warehouse.
  • Perform other duties as required (by responsibility or necessity) or as requested by manager.

Skills/Trades/Qualifications

  • Languages (required): Spanish and English
  • Other languages (not required but a plus): Mam, Kanjobal, Quiche
  • Exceptional customer service skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Thorough knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and computer applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Proficient in using manual & electric pallet jacks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse operations, practices, procedures, and standards
  • Basic knowledge of sanitary food safety, storage, and handling guidelines
  • Proven track record of dependability with an impeccable attendance record
  • Valid driver’s license & clean driving record
  • Food Safety Certificate within 90 days of employment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to meet all physical requirements of the job (occasionally lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 70 lbs., moving pallets up to 2,000 lbs., etc.).
  • Attend all staff meetings and outside work-related events.

Warehouse/Fleet Working Conditions

  • Warehouse environment: Temperature zones can range from -10 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Concrete floors.
  • Outdoor environment during deliveries.
  • Position requires standing, walking, lifting, bending, and climbing in and out of trucks for an extended period of time.

Wage: $17/hour
