CDL B Truck Driver & Warehouse Associate
A member of the operations team, this position's primary responsibility is prompt and friendly local customer deliveries and donor pickups. This key position is also responsible for picking and processing agency orders in an accurate and timely fashion.
The Chattanooga Area Food Bank, a Feeding America network member, serves an estimated 180,000 food insecure children, adults, and seniors across Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia.
Accountable to: Director of Operations
Employment Status: Hourly Position, Non-Exempt, $19.50/hour
Responsibilities:
- Load, unload and receive product donations safely using docks and lift gates
- Process and deliver agency orders in a safe, accurate and timely fashion
- Drive box trucks safely following all company driver rules and expectations
- Complete and turn in accurate shipping and receiving paperwork in a timely manner
- Ensure that the warehouse areas comply with all Feeding America, state and federal safety regulations and guidelines
- Maintain required cleaning areas per the Master Sanitation Schedule
- Attend staff meetings and outside work-related events
- Willingness to cross-train and learn other positions within the organization
- Commitment to promoting a team environment by helping staff and volunteers as needed
- Pick orders as needed
- Perform all other operations and duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must possess a clean driving record and CDL Class B
- Minimum two years' experience in truck deliveries and pickups
- Knowledge of warehouse operations, practices, procedures, and standards
- Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Publisher)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Possesses a positive "can do" problem-solving attitude and proposes solutions to issues and problems as they arise
- Willingness to work during regular Food Bank office hours and flexibility to assist with occasional campaign related events, and/or Saturday
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to meet all physical requirements of the job (occasionally lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 100 lbs., moving pallets up to 2,000 lbs., etc.)
- Ability to sit in a Delivery Truck for 1.5 hours without a break, up to 4 hours sitting in a truck at a time
- Ability to endure physical stress from driving a 26' commercial vehicle
Schedule:
This position follows a Monday-Friday scheduled work week with occasional evenings, and/or Saturday.
Warehouse/Fleet Working Conditions:
- Warehouse environment - temperature zones in the warehouse can range from -10 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit
- Concrete floors & in outdoor environmentsduring deliveries
- Requires standing, walking, lifting, bending, and climbing in and out of trucks for an extended period of time
