The Chattanooga Area Food Bank (CAFB) is seeking a dynamic, team-oriented individual to join our dedicated team, build relationships, and coordinate comprehensive communications and marketing strategies. Serving twenty counties with two locations in Chattanooga and one in Dalton, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank’s mission is to lead a network of partners and unite the community to eliminate hunger by feeding, nourishing, and empowering those we serve.
The Communications Coordinator advances the Chattanooga Area Food Bank’s mission by managing digital communications, supporting marketing efforts, and creating engaging content that strengthens community awareness and impact.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Social Media & Digital Engagement
- Manage CAFB’s social media presence across all platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok), including content & video creation, publishing, scheduling, and engagement
- Develop social campaigns highlighting grants, donor recognition, events, volunteer opportunities, education, facilities updates, partnerships, and national Feeding America initiatives
- Monitor and analyze social media metrics to advise on actionable insights
- Track brand mentions online, reply to social media interactions in a timely manner, and foster relationships with peer organizations through social interaction and collaboration
- Follow and publish Feeding America campaigns
Communications & Marketing
- Support direct mail and digital advertising vendor through editing, proofreading, and customization of materials, ensuring consistency with CAFB brand standards
- Provide editorial, design, and proofreading support for materials across departments (presentations, flyers, donor mailings, etc.)
- Manage CAFB’s brand compliance (logo, templates, voice) in alignment with Feeding America and organizational guidelines
- Maintain and organize photo, video, and storytelling libraries (MemoryFox, Canva templates, branded assets)
- Stay informed about hunger relief efforts, food insecurity, and nutrition assistance trends to inform messaging
- Work cross-departmentally to design and manage physical and digital campaign assets (swag, flyers, invitations, specialty email signatures)
Digital & Creative Support
- Maintain CAFB’s website (staff updates, seasonal content, job postings, assets); conduct annual website audit to ensure all information is accurate
- Take headshots for new staff members and update on website
- Take, edit, and distribute photos at internal and external events
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in communications, marketing, writing, or a related field
- Exceptional written and visual communication skills, including strong editing and storytelling ability
- Experience managing content across major social media platforms
- Proficiency in graphic design tools (Canva required; Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities
- Quick adaptability to new technologies and platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Vivery, Power BI, MemoryFox, Univerge)
- Keen attention to detail and commitment to brand consistency
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with website content management systems (WebFlow or similar)
- Experience with digital analytics and reporting (social media insights, Google Analytics, Power BI)
- Photography and video production/editing skills
- Bilingual or multilingual communication skills
The Communications Coordinator will work collaboratively with staff members, volunteers, donors, and key stakeholders to fully execute the mission of the Food Bank.
Salary Range - $45,000 to $49,000 based on experience.
This position requires some travel and occasional work outside of standard business hours. It is an in-office position located at our main facility in Chattanooga.
