Volunteer & Food Drive Coordinator

The Chattanooga Area Food Bank is seeking a collaborative, organized, and community-minded Volunteer & Food Drive Coordinator to support volunteer engagement and community food drive efforts across our service area

The Chattanooga Area Food Bank, a Feeding America network member, serves an estimated 180,000 food insecure children, adults, and seniors across Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia. This full-time hourly position is an opportunity to help connect individuals, schools, businesses, civic groups, faith communities, and other partners with meaningful ways to support neighbors facing hunger. The person in this role will report to the Volunteer Manager and work closely with Development, Operations, and Communications staff to create welcoming, well-coordinated experiences for volunteers and food drive partners.

Employment Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt, $19 to $21/hour

About the Role:

In this position, you will support the Food Bank’s volunteer program by assisting with scheduling, registration, communication, check-in and check-out processes, volunteer spaces, materials, signage, projects, and special events. You will also respond to volunteer inquiries, provide excellent customer service, support group volunteer experiences, and help maintain accurate volunteer records.

The Volunteer & Food Drive Coordinator will also manage food drive inquiries and logistics, including preparing and distributing food drive materials, coordinating pickups and deliveries with Operations staff, tracking participation and outcomes, and supporting follow-up communication with participating organizations. This role helps ensure food drives are organized, engaging, and connected to opportunities for financial giving when appropriate.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working with people from a wide range of backgrounds, enjoys creating positive and organized experiences, and can communicate the mission of the Food Bank clearly and enthusiastically. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a friendly, professional approach to collaboration across teams and with community partners.

• Experience working with community groups, schools, corporate partners, fundraising, donor engagement, or volunteer coordination

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with database or CRM systems

• Comfort using Canva or similar design tools to update templates, edit text, replace logos, create promotional materials, and generate QR codes

• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• This is an in-office position based at the Food Bank’s main warehouse at 2009 Curtain Pole Road, with occasional travel throughout the service area.

• The role may require occasional weekday, weeknight, or weekend events.

• Physical requirements include the ability to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, along with frequent sitting, standing, walking, keyboarding, stooping, bending, and phone use.
